YOKOHAMA HARBOR 1961 WATERCOLOR
One might think that I reside in Japan and spend much of my time sketching and painting the sights and scenery. While this is what I would really enjoy, and hope to do sometime in the future, my sketches and painting are usually the subjects of dream, memories. Sometimes, what we see in dreams is what we have seen at some time during our lifetimes. Such is the case with scenes like the one above.
My fear is that my work might become to generic, however, as one gets older, sometimes the details of youth become more accurate, and they become revelations of another era, the years between then and now lifted like a fog to make the scene more clear, a revelation of the past made clear in a dream for the joy of capturing the moment once more.

CHINATOWN IN YOKOHAMA, 1961
My latest watercolor with pen and ink, one of my memories of Yokohama. When these memories come back, I try to capture them as soon as possible.
