ONE OF MY FAVORITE HOTELS IN JAPAN DURING THE EARLY 60s
Yes, and people like myself, not yet famous, but working on fame. But to make a long story short, this was one of my favorite hotels for weekend getaways while living in Japan during the early 60s. It offered a world of serenity and was the essence of all things traditional in Japan. Yen was 360 per dollar back then, thus a serviceman in the USN could easily afford the prices.
It was a time when the American dollar was strong and in demand, but of course we had to change our MPC into Yen before departing the base. Whatsmore, it was not legal for service personnel to transact business using the American greenback.
