NOODLE TRUCK WAS NEW THING IN 1961, YOKOHAMA
The owner of Abe's Soba Shop was so busy he had to send out for noodles. Usually, they were delivered after dark, but on 13 September 1962, a new driver, Moto-san, made the mistake of delivering in the daylight hours. While nobody said anything, the secret was out, Abe was sending out for Chinese. Nevertheless, Abe's shop continued to prosper as the older buildings were razed and replaced with concrete fascades with decorative lines. He still kept the lantern lighted.
