YOKOHAMA SUNRISE 1963

IN THIS PHOTO TAKEN ALMOST FIFTY YEARS AGO, A NEW SUNRISE BEGINS ANOTHER NEW DAY IN THE NEW JAPAN. IT WAS A TIME OF MUCH ENERGY AND CONSTRUCTION, A TIME FOR LOOKING AHEAD AND FORGETTING THE PAST. IF ANY NATION ON EARTH HAS OVERCOME HATE AND DESTRUCTION, IT IS THE JAPANESE.

A FRIENDSHIP BORNE OUT OF SORROWS, BUT ONE THAT IS SINCERE.

IT IS AS IF WE SHARE A SECRET BETWEEN US, BOTH OF US HAVING SEEN THE SHAME AND SORROW OF OUR DEEDS OF LONG AGO, BOTH OF US RECONCILED LONG AGO, BOTH OF US HAVING FORGIVEN AND ALMOST FORGOTTEN.
